"But eBobb: how do I know how many lines/chunks to order?"
eBobb sees your point. It's something like ordering a 42 long suit: you'd really like to have an idea of what it might look like. So - herewith an expanding example of different poetry sizes. Plus a prose chunk at the end for those of you who may be interested. Just pick out whatever suits. (Get it? Whatever suits?) Anyway - bear in mind that what follows is a purely generic eBobb Original, whereas yours will be a Totally Customized, Made-To-Order eBobb Original -
So - here's what four lines looks like -
If love were a place, then I think it might be
A flower-strewn meadow . . . or maybe the sea.
If love were a month, it would likely be May,
And love would be Sunday if it were a day.
Moving up to eight -
If love were a place, then I think it might be
A flower-strewn meadow . . . or maybe the sea.
If love were a month, it would likely be May,
And love would be Sunday if it were a day.
If love were a sound, it would be a sweet song
Wrapped up in laughter that rang the day long;
If love were a color, 'twould be the blue sky
Stretching forever, so wide and so high.
Now - can eBobb make it to twelve?!!?
If love were a place, then I think it might be
A flower-strewn meadow . . . or maybe the sea.
If love were a month, it would likely be May,
And love would be Sunday if it were a day.
If love were a sound, it would be a sweet song
Wrapped up in laughter that rang the day long;
If love were a color, 'twould be the blue sky
Stretching forever, so wide and so high.
If love were a package, then inside you'd find
All that is gentle and noble and kind,
Sunrise and starglow, the moon's silver beams -
All that's forever and all of your dreams.
And, yes, citizens: eBobb is going ALL - THE - WAY ! ! : fourteen lines - which is (more or less) a sonnet -
If love were a place, then I think it might be
A flower-strewn meadow . . . or maybe the sea.
If love were a month, it would likely be May,
And love would be Sunday if it were a day.
If love were a sound, it would be a sweet song
Wrapped up in laughter that rang the day long;
If love were a color, 'twould be the blue sky
Stretching forever, so wide and so high.
If love were a package, then inside you'd find
All that is gentle and noble and kind,
Sunrise and starglow, the moon's silver beams -
All that's forever and all of your dreams.
And if love were a person, then surely it's true
The person that love is would have to be you.
Of course, if you want more lines - sixteen, twenty-eight, thirty-two, an Epic - eBobb is up for anything. He aims to please. Speaking of which, for those of you who are not too fond of even numbers, herewith an even number of odd-numbered ditties.
First, some haiku. As you can see, that's three lines - and yes, eBobb knows it doesn't rhyme. It's not supposed to.
Soft as angel wings,
Summer rain upon my face:
Tender is your kiss.
And finally, five lines (in this case, a limerick):
Though a man prayed his love was enjoying
All the charms he was richly employing,
Still his love found another -
'Twas the poor man's twin brother -
Which the man found distinctly annoying.
