Lots of Limericks (three dozen, to be exact). For $9.99, you can either cheer up one friend (which, as eBobb sees it, is the purpose of the limerick), send a dozen limericks to three friends, or one limerick to three dozen friends. Hey, is this the godfather of all cheap . . . errr, economical gifts, or what!?! As for the cheering up part, here's a sample from eBobb's Lots of Limericks:
Limerick# 29
Though her kiss surely changed the frog's life,
The cost was emotional strife -
For the quick change in size
Gave him such a surprise
That he jumped up and stepped on his wife.
Seven Sonnets : Numerically, less of a bargain than either Lots of Limericks or Half a Hundred Haiku, but certainly the most romantic of the three. eBobb supposes it all depends on exactly what kind of friend you'll be sending this to. Also, each sonnet (being fourteen lines) makes for a bigger individual gift than either the five-line limerick or the three-line haiku. If you care about such things.
Half a Hundred Haiku: Well, of course, you can see the possibilities here. If you have fifty friends, this could be the thriftiest Christmas (or Chanukah or Kwanzaa or Ramadan or whatever) you've had in years. Haiku is certainly the smallest in our trio of verse forms (three unrhymed lines with five syllables in the first and third, and seven in the middle), but you know what they say about good things and small packages.
Can't decide? Why not get all three for the price of two?
